Ask Boki

You'll learn to use Boki's global chat, @ mention documents for context, and switch between Auto and Research modes.

What you'll accomplish

By the end of this tutorial, you'll know how to:

• Open the global Boki chat from any page
• Use @ mentions to reference documents
• Switch between Auto and Research modes
• Use Ask Boki inline in the editor

Prerequisites

• A Boki account with at least one brief or article (create your first article)

Step 1: Open the global chat

Look for the orange sparkle icon in the top right of any page.

Click it.

Confirmation: A chat panel opens with "Hi! I'm Boki."

Step 2: Ask a question

Type a question in the chat. For example:

What should I write about next?

Boki will respond based on your workspace context — your existing plans, briefs, and articles.

Step 3: Use @ mentions

To give Boki specific context, use @ mentions:

1. Type @ in the chat
2. A list of your documents appears (briefs, articles, plans)
3. Select a document
4. Continue your question

Example:

@My API Tutorial brief — what technical claims should I fact-check?

Boki reads the referenced document and responds with specific suggestions.

Step 4: Switch modes

At the top of the chat, you'll see a mode selector:

Auto — Boki decides how to help based on your question. Good for general use.

Research — Boki focuses on web search, source finding, and competitive analysis. Use this when you need external information.

Try switching to Research mode and asking:

What are the top articles about [your topic] published this month?

Confirmation: Boki performs web searches and returns sources with summaries.

Step 5: Use Ask Boki in the editor

When writing an article:

1. Highlight text (at least 50 words for reviews)
2. Click the sparkle that appears, or right-click and select "Ask Boki"
3. Choose an action:
   • Ask a question about the selection
   • Request a technical review
   • Request a marketer review
   • Check LLM visibility (beta)

Example: Highlight a paragraph with a statistic and ask:

Is this statistic accurate? Find the original source.

Step 6: Review the response

Boki's responses include:

• Direct answers to your questions
• Sources and citations when researching
• Specific suggestions when reviewing

You decide what to act on. Boki advises; you write.
