How to interview with Boki for an expert insight

Users who don't know what to say, or prefer speaking over typing, can have a conversation with Boki instead of entering insight information manually.

Overview

When collecting expert insights, you have two options:

1. Enter info manually — Type the insight content directly
2. Have a conversation with Boki — Let Boki interview you with guided questions

The interview option works for both manual collection and email-based collection.

When to use interviews

Use Boki interviews when:

• The expert isn't sure how to structure their knowledge
• You want to capture conversational nuance
• Speaking is easier than writing for the interviewee
• You need to explore a topic through guided questions

Interview in manual collection

When creating an insight manually:

1. Go to Research → Insights
2. Click Add insight
3. Choose Have a conversation with Boki instead of entering info manually
4. Boki asks questions based on the interview context you provide
5. Answer each question — Boki guides the conversation
6. When finished, the Q&A is stored as the insight content

Interview via email collection

When an expert receives an email request for insights:

1. They open the public insight collection page from the email link
2. They can choose to type their response OR converse with Boki
3. Voice option: Click the mic button to use speech-to-text for answering
4. Boki asks follow-up questions to extract complete insights
5. The conversation is saved as the insight

Note: Speech-to-text converts spoken answers to text for the conversation. The insight body is stored as text, not audio.

Interview steering

Boki uses context you provide to guide the interview:

Provide more context for better, more relevant interview questions.

Voice-only rule: When you send an insight request without adding questions, the expert can only respond via voice interview — there's no text input option. Add questions if you want to give the expert the choice to answer by text.

How it works

1. Boki generates questions based on the topic and context
2. The interviewee answers each question
3. Boki asks follow-up questions to clarify or expand
4. The full Q&A transcript becomes the insight content
5. You can edit the resulting insight like any other

Result

After the interview:

• The Q&A is stored as text in the insight
• You can edit, tag, and attribute the insight normally
• The insight appears in your insights library
