How to transfer workspace ownership
Owners can transfer ownership of a workspace to another active member.
Prerequisites
- You must be the current workspace Owner
- The new owner must be an active member (not a pending invitation)
Steps
- Go to Settings → Members
- Find the member who will become the new owner
- Click the menu (three dots) on their row
- Select Transfer ownership
- Confirm the transfer
What happens after transfer
- The selected member becomes the new Owner
- You (the previous Owner) become an Admin
- All workspace content and settings remain unchanged
Role visibility
After becoming an Admin:
- You will not see action menus on your own row
- You will not see action menus on the Owner's row
- You can manage Editor and Viewer roles only
Why transfer ownership
Transfer ownership when:
- Leaving the organization but the workspace should continue
- Handing off a project to a new lead
- Reorganizing team responsibilities
Result
After a member joins:
- They can access workspace content
- They appear in the members list
- Their actions are logged for collaboration
Tips
Check spam folders: Invitation emails sometimes end up in spam.
Use work emails: Company email addresses are easier to manage.
Remove inactive members: Good security practice to remove people who no longer need access.
