Create your first article

You'll create a content plan, generate a brief, and write your first article. Boki researches and reviews — you write.

What you'll accomplish

By the end of this tutorial, you'll have:

• A content plan
• A brief with research
• A draft article you wrote yourself

Prerequisites

• A Boki account (create one first)
• A topic you want to write about

Step 1: Create a plan

1. Click Plans in the left sidebar under Create
2. Click Create plan (or the + button)
3. Enter a plan name — this is your content calendar or campaign
4. Add a description (optional)
5. Click Create

Confirmation: Your plan appears in the plans list.

Step 2: Add a content brief

1. Open your plan
2. Click Add brief or go to Briefs in the sidebar
3. Enter a working title for your article
4. Describe what you want to write about
5. Click Create brief

Confirmation: The brief editor opens.

Step 3: Research with Boki

With your brief open:

1. Click the orange sparkle in the top right (or in the brief editor)
2. Type: "Research this topic and suggest an outline"
3. Boki will search, analyze, and suggest structure

Review the suggestions. Boki finds sources, competitor content, and gaps you can fill.

Important: Boki researches and suggests. You decide what to include.

Step 4: Refine the brief

Based on Boki's research:

1. Update the brief with your chosen angle
2. Add key points you want to cover
3. Note your target audience
4. Set a target word count (optional)

The brief is your contract with yourself — what you're committing to write.

Step 5: Create the article

1. From the brief, click Create article (or go to Articles in the sidebar)
2. The article editor opens with your brief context
3. Start writing

The editor provides:

• Real-time collaboration
• Version history
• Markdown and MDX support
• Comments
• "Ask Boki" inline — highlight text and ask questions

Step 6: Write your article

This is where you do the work. Boki doesn't write your article — you do.

As you write:

• Use Ask Boki (highlight text, click the sparkle) to fact-check claims
• Request a technical review when you have code or technical content
• Request a marketer review for structure and clarity

Minimum for reviews: 50 words of selected text.

Step 7: Export or publish

When you're done:

Export options:

• Markdown (.md)
• MDX (.mdx)
• PDF
• Word (.docx)

Publishing: If you've set up distribution channels, you can schedule publication.
